MANGALORE – December 30, 2012 – GlowTouch Technologies, an award-winning IT services firm providing custom application development and technology integration services to businesses around the globe, announced that it held its annual Tejo Diya celebration on December 29 at the town hall in Mangalore, India.

Tejo Diya is a celebration that promotes charitable giving, recognizes organizations that have a positive impact in the community, honors local heroes and shows great appreciation for cultural traditions. Tejo Diya is highly anticipated each year by GlowTouch employees and the local people of Mangalore alike. Dr. Ravichandran, CEO of GlowTouch, helps organize the event in conjunction with other community leaders.

Dr. Ravichandran, creator of the GT Foundation, kicked off Tejo Diya this year by recognizing several honored guests. The honorees were acknowledged by the GT Foundation for their contributions towards social development in Mangalore. The GT Foundation was established to address the challenging problems of domestic violence, poverty, disease and hunger, a growing prevalence in Indian culture today.

The chief guest at the celebration was Padma Bhushan Dr. B. M. Hedge, former vice chancellor of Manipal University. All of the guests were welcomed and received by Vidya Ravichandran, president of GlowTouch Technologies and managing trustee of the GT Foundation.

A central part of the celebration was the commendations for Sri Gopala Krishna Iyer and Mr. Sharath Babu Elumalai, CEO of Food King Catering. Iyer popularized and teaches Carnatic classical music and flute playing to the people of Dakshina Kannada.

Elumalai was born into poverty and worked hard to earn his college degree from a well established Indian college. His vision is to provide employment to the illiterate and sem-illiterate people of India and he also instigated the HungerFree India Movement.

Dr. Ravichandran marked the celebration by announcing a new initiative under the GT Foundation umbrella. The Karuna Kiran Foundation was created to support critical care patients at the Mangalore based Lady Goschen Hospital. Dr. Ravichandran presented the first check of support from the new foundation to a representative from Lady Goschen hospital.

As a continuance of Tejo Diya’s celebration of charitable actions, Dr. Ravichandran also presented a letter of sponsorship to a local Mangalore school; this letter was a promise to provide the school with much needed computers.

“Tejo Diya celebrates and encourages generosity in the local Mangalore community. GlowTouch is proud to sponsor such an impactful and rewarding day for the people of Mangalore” said Dr. Ravichandran. “Our support of the surrounding community is reflective of the caring culture we wish to create. This enables us to build GlowTouch into a successful business while helping to create a safe and nurturing living environment. The GlowTouch team members are the foundation of our company’s every day success. We are dedicated to helping them retain a beacon of hope for this community.”
